When you’re trying to lose weight, it’s common to lose muscle mass along the way. However, by losing too much muscle mass you hit the point where you plateau and stop losing weight, and in most cases start putting weight back on. The common reason for too much lean muscle loss is not taking in enough protein. Remember that muscle is metabolically active so it makes sense that the more lean muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism. Keeping your metabolism high helps to keep your body burning fat so that weight can consistently come off.
Therefore, the key to constantly hitting your fat stores is consuming the right amount of protein in your diet to provide your lean muscle with enough nutrients so it doesn’t waste away. This can make or break your weight loss success. Eating enough protein is not always easy, which is why taking supplements, like protein powder, along with a well-balanced diet can aid weight loss and lean muscle gain. Finding the right protein supplement can also be hard as there so many different types on the market, and many are poor in quality and come from some questionable sources.
